An Orientation Day for the MPhil in Physical Therapy was successfully conducted at the Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy (ZCPT), Sukkur Campus. This newly launched postgraduate programme by Ziauddin University is duly approved by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and represents a major milestone in advancing higher education and research in physical therapy within the region. The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Rabia Mehboob, MPhil Coordinator. During the orientation, Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan, Principal ZCPT Sukkur Campus, addressed the incoming students and encouraged them to make the most of this academic opportunity. He elaborated on how the MPhil programme will enhance their advanced clinical competencies, research capabilities, and professional growth, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to healthcare and academia.
Dr. Usman Khan also paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Asim Hussain, Chancellor of Ziauddin University, acknowledging his visionary leadership and sustained efforts, under which Ziauddin University has attained a distinguished position in medical education and healthcare. The message of Dr. Nida Hussain, Pro Chancellor, was also shared, highlighting that the Sukkur Campus is progressing steadily through a balanced focus on academic excellence and high-quality clinical training.
The message of the Registrar, Ziauddin University & Hospital, Dr. Mirza Aminul Haq, was conveyed to the students, in which he emphasised that Ziauddin University provides an excellent platform to strengthen both academic and clinical skills and encouraged students to utilise the institutional resources, mentorship, and research environment to their fullest potential.
Additionally, the message of the Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sumaira Imran, underscored the importance of launching an advanced MPhil programme in Physical Therapy at Sukkur Campus. She highlighted that this programme is critically needed to address regional healthcare demands, promote evidence-based practice, and strengthen research culture and social impact in the field of physical therapy.
The orientation session also included detailed briefings on examination policies by Dr. Saiqa Jalil (PT), Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) guidelines were explained by Hafiza Dr. Adeena (PT) and the training of Campus Management System and Learning Management System was conducted by Dr. Kiran Bibi (PT), ensuring that students were well-informed about academic regulations and institutional standards.
The event concluded with a group photograph followed by refreshments, fostering interaction between students and faculty. The launch and orientation of the MPhil in Physical Therapy programme stands as a significant academic and institutional achievement, reinforcing Ziauddin University’s commitment to excellence in postgraduate education, research, and clinical practice. Â
