BS Accelerated Audiology and Speech Language Therapy (AASLT) – 1.5 Year

The Accelerated Audiology and Speech Therapy (AASLT) is an intensive 1.5-year, semester-based programme designed for individuals who already possess a background in healthcare or education and aspire to transition into the specialised fields of audiology and speech-language pathology. This programme serves as a bridging qualification, equipping learners with the foundational academic and clinical competencies required for entry into a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology (MS SLP) programme.

Tailored for professionals who wish to pursue advanced training, the AASLT programme combines flexibility with academic rigour. It offers comprehensive coursework and clinical exposure in speech disorders, language development, audiological assessment, and rehabilitation practices, while emphasising ethical clinical reasoning and interprofessional collaboration.

By grounding students in evidence-based practices and introductory research skills, the programme not only fosters critical thinking and patient-centred care but also prepares them to meet the eligibility criteria for postgraduate studies. Graduates of the AASLT programme are well-positioned to further their education in MS SLP, pursue licensure pathways, and contribute meaningfully to inclusive healthcare, education, and community-based services.

Learning and Teaching Strategy

The Accelerated Audiology and Speech Therapy (AAST) programme at the College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences (CSLHS) is structured around a fast-tracked, modular curriculum that balances foundational knowledge with essential clinical skills. Specifically designed for graduates from allied health, education, and related fields, the programme serves as a preparatory bridge to advanced studies such as the MS in Speech-Language Pathology (MS SLP).

This 1.5-year programme emphasises core theoretical instruction integrated with focused clinical exposure. Students engage in structured clinical placements—including supervised observation and guided participation—across CSLHS clinics, affiliated hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and educational institutions.

CSLHS’s strong collaborations within the University and with external partners ensure that the AAST programme upholds international standards of academic and clinical training. Graduates emerge well-prepared to transition into postgraduate programmes and contribute effectively to interdisciplinary teams in speech, language, and hearing sciences.
